CPC adopts new Code of Conduct

The system of regulation of standards of councillor conduct in England is governed by the Localism Act 2011. Local authorities must have a Code of Conduct for councillors, which must be consistent with the “Seven Principles of Public Life”, selflessness, honesty, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness and leadership.

Whilst Cuxton Parish Council have had a code of conduct for many years, at the October 2024 meeting councillors voted to adopt a a new code of conduct based on the The Local Government Association model, to bring Cuxton Parish Council more in line with other local authorities and help ensure best practice.

Additionally, Councillors are committed to signing up to the Civility and Respect pledge and this is the first step in ensuring that civility and respect are values at the heart of our council.

CPC will review this document yearly at the annual meeting.
